- To promote preventive healthcare by providing free breast cancer screening and early detection services to women in underserved and rural communities.
- To create awareness and encourage health-seeking behaviour among women through structured breast health education and community outreach programmes
- To facilitate timely access to diagnosis and treatment by establishing referral linkages with recognized healthcare institutions and ensuring continuity of care.
- To strengthen community health systems by training frontline health workers and volunteers in breast health awareness and early identification of symptoms.
- To reduce health inequities by ensuring equitable access to breast cancer screening and treatment for economically and socially marginalized women.
“UC Breast Foundation” works towards providing financial assistance to people with breast diseases who require screening, diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and palliative care. The foundation also strives to bring awareness about breast and gynecology health through different educational aids. Other than medical help, the foundation focuses on undertaking research and training initiatives to achieve the primary goal.
UC Breast Foundation also plans to set up a Mammo-bus or other mobile devices for easy access to breast cancer screening and to create awareness among women especially those from lower income household, straight at their doorstep.
Why UC-Breast Foundation
UC Breast Foundation was founded on the basis of true-life incidents witnessed by Dr. Pragnya Chigurupati which majorly involved cases with patients needing critical care who weren’t admitted into the hospital because of their financial conditions. In some instances, the family failed to provide timely financial assistance which resulted in a patient losing their life. The lack of self-awareness and education has also hindered the timely treatment of the disease.
UC Breast Foundation is one of its kind organization providing education, awareness and screening along with financial support to those at the bottom of the human pyramid.
